More Opportunities
We promise more opportunities. Tintern is the only school in the outer eastern suburbs to offer students three different pathways.
SENIOR COLLEGE (YEARS 10 TO YEAR 12)
Senior College is a special environment where from 2010 students will undertake their learning in an exclusive space for senior girls and boys.
YEAR 10
At this stage, it is all about shaping decisions. It is a year of transition as the students prepare for the more career or tertiary oriented subjects of Years 11 and 12.
Students are encouraged to examine their goals and aspirations, their strengths, their passions and the pre-requisite requirements for their own learning pathway.
Core academic subjects will be held in gender specific classes and prepare students for the demands of the VCE (Victorian Certificate of Education) the IB (International Baccalaureate) and the VCE-VET (Vocational Education and Training).
YEARS 11 AND YEAR 12
In preparation for life beyond school and into the wider community, students in Years 11 - 12 benefit from a breadth of curriculum that is taught in a mixed class environment supported by our strong, supportive pastoral care program.
VICTORIAN CERTIFICATE OF EDUCATION (VCE) PROGRAM
The curriculum offered in the VCE program is broad and allows for individual passions and interests.
VCE – VET PROGRAM
For a VCE curriculum to be genuinely comprehensive, it must cater for the needs of all students. The School provides an additional pathway within the VCE, our VCE – VET program.
Tintern is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and offers students the opportunity to undertake Certificate II and III level courses within their VCE studies. Completion of a VET program enables students to graduate with both a VCE Certificate (with an ENTER score) and a nationally recognised Vocational Education and Training qualification.
INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE (IB) PROGRAM
As an alternative to the VCE or VCE-VET programs, students in Senior College can choose to undertake the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB), which provides an international education – emphasising intellectual, social and emotional skills required to succeed in today’s global world.
The IB Diploma, taken over two-years, is not based on the elements of any one country but incorporates highly desirable elements of many.
